Calvin Bible Study

Although I enjoy going to Barcas, I decided to organize a Bible study for Calvin students, so that we could read, pray and discuss in English. We met for the first time last Tuesday and are meeting again today. With MariaElena's (Prof. Bierling) help, I arranged for us to meet at the church--in the building here in Denia. (Their old building, which is quite small, is right in town, and their new building is a 20 minute walk from Denia.) Maria Elena had told me that the building was open from 4-6, so the group was going to meet at 4:30. I arrived a little earlier to find the doors locked. I figured that when the rest of the group showed up we could decided where to go. As I was waiting, an older man came up and started asked me if I had been to the church. He started explaining that the services were in the new building and was going on and on about how great the services were. I was having a lot of trouble expressing myself, but finally got across that I had been to the church several times and really liked it. He seemed a little disappointed that he hadn't recruited a new member and just sort of walked off. Only one of several awkward conversations that day.... Anyway, before everyone arrived I figured out that we could get into the building if we rang the doorbell, so it all worked out. There were about 6 girls and a couple more are coming today. We decided to read through James and I think it will be a good group and a good opportunity to pray for each other and get to know each other better.

  1. Maybe you will see the old guy in church or in town someday. The book of James sounds good, can you finish by the semester's end?
