Saturday: Leaving Barcelona
We left Barcelona Saturday morning and headed back to Denia, but made two stops first. The first stop was Codorníu, a vineyard/winery where the make Cava--which is like a cross between wine and champagne. There are interesting buildings on the site and miles of tunnels, or wine cellars. Everyone enjoyed the "train" ride that we took through the tunnels. It was a small, open train like you would ride at an amusement park; it doesn't take much to entertain our group. At the end of the tour we all got to try two different types of Cava. After Codorníu we went to the city of Tarragona. It was an important city in the Roman Empire and we saw lots of Roman ruins. We were only there for a couple hours, which was just as well because it started to rain when we left. We arrived back in Denia in time for "la cena" (dinner).
